Speed and torque across supply voltages
The SH31401M02F2000: This SH3 servo motor delivers nominal speeds that shift with the supply: 375 rpm on 115 V single-phase, 750 rpm on 230 V single-phase, 1500 rpm on 400 V three-phase, and 1800 rpm on 480 V three-phase. Nominal torque holds near 11 N.m across all four voltage variants — 11 N.m at 115 V single-phase, 10.95 N.m at 230 V single-phase, 10.6 N.m at 400 V three-phase, and 10.4 N.m at 480 V three-phase — so the load-matching torque is consistent regardless of the line voltage available on site. The holding brake delivers 23 N.m of holding torque, enough to secure a vertical-axis load or hold position during a power-loss event. Peak stall torque reaches 27 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, giving a short-duration acceleration and deceleration ceiling about 2.5× the nominal torque.
Encoder feedback and position loop
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder reports position at power-on without a homing sequence — the multiturn count tracks absolute shaft position over multiple revolutions. This eliminates the need for a reference run after a power cycle, which matters on axes that must resume from the last commanded position after an E-stop or overnight shutdown. The torque constant is 2.78 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 193 V/krpm at 20 °C. These two values define the drive tuning: the current loop scales torque from the drive's current command, and the back EMF limits the maximum achievable speed given the drive's DC bus voltage.
Mounting, cooling, and environmental sealing
The motor flange is 140 mm with an international standard flange pattern — mounting holes at 11 mm diameter and a centring collar of 130 mm diameter and 3.5 mm depth. The shaft is 24 mm diameter, 50 mm long, smooth (no keyway), with an 8 mm key width if a key is field-fitted. Overall length is 255.5 mm. Cooling is by natural convection — no fan, so the continuous torque rating assumes still air at ambient temperature. In a confined cabinet or high-ambient installation, the thermal duty cycle must be derated. The IP rating depends on the shaft seal: IP54 without a shaft seal ring, or IP65 with the shaft seal ring fitted, per IEC 60034-5. The motor body itself is rated IP65 when the seal is in place, making it suitable for washdown environments as long as the cable connector is also sealed. Electrical connection options include a straight connector or a rotatable right-angle connector, giving cable exit flexibility for tight cabinet layouts. Maximum radial force on the shaft is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 1340 N at 3000 rpm — the bearing load limit follows the speed curve, critical for belt or pulley drives. Maximum axial force is 300 N.
Electrical parameters and drive sizing
Continuous power is 1700 W, with nominal output power varying by supply: 430 W at 115 V single-phase, 860 W at 230 V single-phase, 1670 W at 400 V three-phase, and 1960 W at 480 V three-phase. Continuous stall torque is 11.1 N.m across the three-phase range, drawn at 4 A continuous stall current. The maximum continuous RMS current is 10.8 A.
The sizing reference is SH31401M, and the device short name is SH3. The motor ships one unit per package. No official successor or pin-compatible alternative is listed — this is the current production variant for the SH3 frame size.
