Speed-torque envelope by supply voltage
The SH31401M11F2100: This SH3 servo motor delivers different nominal performance depending on the supply voltage feeding the drive. At 400 V three-phase, nominal speed is 1500 rpm with 10.6 N.m nominal torque; at 480 V three-phase, it reaches 1800 rpm with 10.4 N.m nominal torque. On single-phase 230 V, nominal speed drops to 750 rpm with 10.95 N.m nominal torque, and on 115 V single-phase, it runs at 375 rpm with 11 N.m nominal torque. The continuous power rating at 400 V three-phase is 1670 W, close to the 1700 W nominal continuous power listed for the motor. At 480 V three-phase, the nominal output power reaches 1960 W, exceeding the continuous power figure — the drive must be sized to supply this current without exceeding the motor's thermal limits. Maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm, so the motor has headroom above the 1800 rpm nominal at 480 V for field weakening operation, though torque drops off above base speed.
Brake and torque characteristics
Continuous stall torque is 11.1 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range, with a continuous stall current of 4 A. The torque constant is 2.78 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature — this is the value the drive's current loop uses to command torque. Back EMF constant is 193 V/krpm at 20 °C, which sets the voltage required from the drive at a given speed.
Encoder feedback and environmental sealing
The absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without needing a homing sequence on power-up for single-turn applications. This encoder type communicates both incremental sine/cosine signals and absolute position data over the Hiperface protocol — the drive must support Hiperface to read the absolute position. IP65 protection on both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 means the motor withstands water jets and dust ingress, suitable for washdown environments in food processing or machining lines. The straight connector and rotatable right-angled connector options give flexibility in cable routing within the IP65 seal. Cooling is by natural convection — no external fan or forced air required. The maximum radial force at 1000 rpm is 1930 N, dropping to 1340 N at 3000 rpm; maximum axial force is 300 N. These bearing load limits must be checked against the application's overhung load and thrust.
Sourcing and lifecycle — active production
The motor flange size is 140 mm (5.5 in) with an international standard flange mounting — the centring collar diameter is 5.1 in (130 mm) with a 0.1 in (3.5 mm) depth. Mounting holes are 0.4 in (11 mm) diameter on the flange pattern. The shaft is 0.9 in (24 mm) diameter with a parallel key, 2.0 in (50 mm) shaft length, and 0.3 in (8 mm) key width.
