Speed-torque envelope across supply configurations
The SH31401M12A1100: This SH3 frame servo delivers 11 Nm nominal torque at 11 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range, but the speed ceiling shifts with the supply: 375 rpm on 115 V single phase, 750 rpm on 230 V single phase, 1500 rpm on 400 V three phase, and 1800 rpm on 480 V three phase. Peak stall torque reaches 27 N.m across the full three-phase voltage band, giving a 2.4× overload margin over the continuous stall torque of 11.1 N.m — enough for aggressive acceleration profiles without oversizing the frame. The 1700 W continuous power rating assumes natural convection cooling, so no external blower or forced air is needed — mount it with the standard 140 mm flange and let the frame dissipate the heat.
Encoder feedback and drive tuning parameters
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without a home cycle on power-up — critical for applications where the axis must resume from the last known position after a power loss. Stator inductance of 88.55 mH and stator resistance of 5.3 Ohm set the electrical time constant at roughly 16.7 ms — the drive's current loop gains need tuning to this L/R ratio for stable torque control at the 10.8 A maximum RMS current. The torque constant is 2.78 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 193 V/krpm at 20 °C — use these to calculate the voltage margin at 4000 rpm max mechanical speed so the drive bus voltage doesn't saturate. Five motor poles means the drive must be configured for a 5-pole motor — not the common 4- or 6-pole defaults — or the speed feedback loop will oscillate.
Mechanical integration and load limits
The 140 mm flange with 130 mm centring collar and 11 mm mounting holes bolts onto standard IEC metric patterns — the 3.5 mm centring collar depth registers the pilot bore before the bolts take the shear load. Shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length — the 8 mm key width matches standard metric key stock for pulley or coupling fitment. Maximum radial force is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1340 N at 3000 rpm — bearing life calculations must use the actual speed-dependent Fr limit, not the static rating. Maximum axial force is 300 N — thrust loads from helical gears or lead screws must stay under this or an external thrust bearing is needed.
Environmental sealing and cable routing
IP65 rating applies to both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 — the seal at the shaft exit is the wet-end barrier, so washdown spray hitting the front face won't ingress past the bushing. Electrical connection options include a rotatable right-angled connector and a straight connector — the rotatable version lets the cable exit in any quadrant without adding a junction box, useful in tight machine envelopes. No holding brake is fitted on this variant — for vertical axes or safety-hold applications, an external brake or a motor with the brake option must be specified.
