Commissioning fit — SH3 frame with holding brake
The SH31401M12F2000 is a 1700 W continuous-power servo motor from the SH3 series, built on a 140 mm flange (IEC standard) with a parallel-key shaft, 24 mm diameter, 50 mm length. The holding brake delivers 23 Nm static torque — enough to hold a vertical-axis load at power-off without a separate mechanical lock. The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder eliminates the need for a home-search cycle on power-up — the drive reads the exact rotor position and load position from the encoder's multiturn count. This saves one commissioning step per axis on multi-axis machines. Natural convection cooling means no fan duct or forced-air clearance is needed in the cabinet, but the continuous torque and current ratings assume free airflow around the motor body — derate if the motor is enclosed in a tight shroud.
Speed-torque envelope across supply voltages
The nominal speed depends on the supply: 375 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 750 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 1800 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm regardless of supply voltage — the drive's output frequency and the motor's back-EMF constant (193 V/krpm at 20°C) set the practical ceiling. Nominal torque also shifts with voltage: 11 Nm at 115 V single-phase, 10.95 Nm at 230 V single-phase, 10.6 Nm at 400 V three-phase, and 10.4 Nm at 480 V three-phase. The continuous stall torque is 11.1 Nm across the 115–480 V three-phase range — the motor can hold that torque at zero speed indefinitely within the thermal limit. Peak stall torque reaches 27 Nm across the three-phase range — useful for acceleration transients or breaking through a stuck load. The continuous stall current is 4 A, while the maximum RMS current is 10.8 A; the drive must supply the peak current for short bursts without tripping.
Mechanical interface and environmental sealing
The motor carries IP65 protection when the shaft bushing seal is fitted (conforming to IEC 60034-5). Without the shaft seal ring, the shaft bushing drops to IP54 — acceptable for dry indoor environments but not washdown zones. The straight and rotatable right-angled connectors are both IP65-rated when mated. Maximum radial force is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1340 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 300 N. These limits govern belt-drive and direct-coupling applications — exceeding them shortens bearing life or causes shaft deflection.
