Voltage-dependent speed and torque — sizing for the supply
The SH31401P02A2200: This SH3 servo motor delivers nominal speeds that shift with the supply: 750 rpm on 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm on 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm on 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm on 480 V three-phase. Nominal torque follows the same voltage dependence — 96.92 lbf.in (10.95 N.m) at 115 V single-phase, dropping to 74.3 lbf.in (8.4 N.m) at 480 V three-phase. The continuous stall torque across the three-phase range is 98.2 lbf.in (11.1 N.m). Peak stall torque hits 239.0 lbf.in (27 N.m) on three-phase supplies (115...480 V), giving the short-term overload headroom for acceleration through a cycle.
Encoder feedback and environmental sealing
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without a home cycle on power-up — the drive knows the rotor angle from the encoder's multiturn count. This matters for applications that lose and restore power mid-cycle. The motor carries IP65 on the body and shaft bushing, with IP67 on the housing — conforming to IEC 60034-5. That means the motor withstands washdown and hose-directed water, suitable for food-and-beverage or wet machining lines. Cooling is natural convection — no fan, so the 2900 W continuous power assumes free air movement around the 140 mm flange. Forced cooling is not built in; derate if the motor sits in a still, enclosed space.
Mechanical interface and load limits
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 140 mm centring collar diameter and 11 mm mounting holes. The centring collar depth is 3.5 mm — enough to locate the motor squarely on the gearbox or machine face without shimming. Shaft is smooth, 24 mm diameter, 50 mm length. The maximum radial force (Fr) is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1340 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force (Fa) is 300 N. These set the bearing life limit for belt-drive or direct-coupled loads — exceed them and the bearing race wears prematurely. No holding brake — the load must be held by the drive's holding torque or an external brake. The rotatable right-angled connector lets the cable exit in any of four directions, easing routing in a tight cabinet.
Electrical parameters for drive matching
Stator resistance is 1.41 Ohm, stator inductance 8.17 mH. The torque constant is 1.43 N.m/A at 120 °C, and the back EMF constant is 100 V/krpm at 20 °C. These values let the drive's autotune routine calculate the current loop gains correctly — plug them in if the drive requires manual entry. Maximum continuous current (Irms) is 20.8 A, with a 3-second peak of the same 20.8 A. Continuous stall current is 7.8 A. The drive must supply at least this peak current to reach the peak stall torque.
