Speed-torque envelope and supply voltage dependency

The SH31402P11F2200 is a three-phase, 5-pole servo motor with a nominal speed that shifts with the supply — 750 rpm at 115 V single phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three phase. The pole count (5) is uncommon; it means the motor's base speed at a given electrical frequency differs from a standard 4-pole machine, so the drive's pole-pair parameter must be set to 5, not 4, or the speed feedback loop will be mis-scaled. Nominal torque drops as voltage rises: 164.6 lbf.in (18.6 N·m) at 115 V single phase down to 85.9 lbf.in (9.7 N·m) at 480 V three phase. The torque constant is 1.47 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, so the drive's current limit directly sets the usable torque ceiling. At 44.1 A RMS maximum current, peak stall torque reaches 531.9 lbf.in (60.1 N·m) across the 115–480 V three-phase range — enough for aggressive acceleration, but only for the 3-second I²t window the drive allows.

Holding brake and mechanical interface

The integrated holding brake delivers 203.6 lbf.in (23 N·m) static torque — this is the Z-axis or vertical-load brake that keeps the load stationary when power is removed. It is not a dynamic braking resistor; the brake engages mechanically on de-energization and must not be applied while the motor is rotating above a few rpm, or the friction lining wears prematurely. Environmental sealing and thermal management

IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing, IP67 on the housing — the motor is washdown-rated on the housing, but the shaft bushing is only IP65. In direct-spray food-and-bev or washdown zones, the shaft seal is the ingress point; a shaft cover or labyrinth seal may be needed for sustained IP67 exposure. Cooling is natural convection — no external fan, so the motor relies on its own surface area and the mounting flange to dissipate 3.9 kW continuous power. Ambient temperature must stay below the 266 °F (130 °C) copper hot-spot limit.
