Motor ratings that govern the axis
The SH31403P12A1200 is a 5-pole, three-phase servo motor from the SH3 family, delivering 4.1 kW continuous power. Its speed-torque envelope is voltage-dependent: at 400 V three-phase, nominal speed is 3000 rpm with 12.9 N.m nominal torque; at 480 V three-phase, speed rises to 3600 rpm but torque drops to 9.1 N.m. The continuous stall torque across the 115...480 V three-phase range is 27.8 N.m, with a peak stall torque of 90.2 N.m — the margin for acceleration and overload is roughly 3.2× the continuous stall figure.
Feedback and integration constraints
The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface — a single-cable feedback system that transmits position and commutation data over a hybrid power/signal cable. The Hiperface protocol is standard on Schneider Lexium drives; if the drive side expects EnDat or BiSS, a converter or different motor variant is needed. The electrical connection is a straight connector — no right-angle or rotatable option. This forces a minimum bend radius in the cable routing; plan at least 4× the cable diameter clearance behind the motor. The IP65 rating applies to the motor body, shaft bushing, and housing per IEC 60034-5, so the connector interface is sealed when mated, but the cable entry into the connector is the wet-end boundary — a gland or sealed cordset is required to maintain the rating. Mounting is via an international standard flange, size 140 mm (5.5 in), with a centring collar of 130 mm diameter and 3.5 mm depth. The four mounting holes are 11 mm diameter on a bolt circle that matches the IEC 72-1 frame standard for 140 mm flange. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length, 8 mm key width — this is a standard metric shaft dimension, compatible with most off-the-shelf couplings and pulleys for that bore size.
Sourcing and lifecycle — active, quoted to order
The stator resistance is 0.4 Ω and inductance is 2.66 mH — these values set the electrical time constant (~6.7 ms) and influence the current-loop tuning on the drive. The torque constant is 1.58 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back-EMF constant is 105 V/krpm at 20 °C. These are the numbers the drive's autotuning routine uses to calculate the motor model; if the drive does not have a preloaded SH3 motor profile, these parameters must be entered manually. Maximum RMS current is 61.0 A, with a 3-second peak current also 61.0 A — this is a high-current, low-impedance winding designed for high acceleration torque. The radial force limits are 2420 N at 1000 rpm, 1920 N at 2000 rpm, and 1670 N at 3000 rpm; the axial force limit is 300 N. These bearing load ratings must be respected when sizing the coupling and belt tension to avoid premature bearing failure.
