Torque-speed envelope and voltage dependency
The SH31404P02F1200: This SH3-series servo motor delivers 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase — the speed ceiling follows the line voltage. Nominal torque at 400 V three-phase is 12.9 N.m, dropping to 11.1 N.m at 480 V, so the torque-per-amp curve shifts with the supply. Continuous power at 400 V three-phase is 4040 W; at 480 V it reaches 4190 W. The motor is wound for a 400 V nominal line — running it on 480 V gains a few percent power but loses torque density. Peak stall torque hits 131.9 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range — this is the short-duration acceleration limit, not the continuous rating. The continuous stall torque is 33.4 N.m over the same voltage window, so the peak-to-continuous ratio is roughly 4:1.
Encoder feedback and position retention
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder tracks shaft position across power cycles — no homing routine on restart. The multiturn count covers multiple revolutions, so a rotary table or ball screw axis retains its absolute position reference even after a full machine power-down. Hiperface is a Schneider-native protocol; it carries both incremental sin/cos tracks for velocity control and absolute position data over a serial link. The motor connector is a straight connector — the cable exits axially, which matters for cable-tray routing in tight cabinets.
Cooling, sealing, and mechanical interface
Natural convection cooling — no integrated fan. The motor dissipates heat through the flange and housing; mounting on a metallic machine frame or a finned bracket improves thermal conductivity. The IP65 rating on the motor body and shaft bushing means it withstands washdown spray, but the IP67 housing rating adds immersion protection for the connector area — relevant for food-processing or outdoor conveyor lines where standing water is a risk. Smooth shaft, 24 mm diameter, 50 mm shaft length — the coupling or pulley must be secured with a clamping or keyless locking mechanism since there is no keyway. The international standard flange is 140 mm (5.5 in) with a centring collar diameter of 130 mm and a centring collar depth of 3.5 mm — matches standard IEC B5 or B14 flange patterns for direct mounting to gearboxes.
