4040 W continuous, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase
The SH31404P12A1200 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor delivering 4040 W continuous power at 400 V three-phase, with a nominal speed of 3000 rpm. At 480 V three-phase it reaches 3600 rpm, and at 230 V single-phase it runs 1500 rpm — the torque curve shifts with the supply voltage, so the drive parameter set must match the line voltage feeding the motor. Nominal torque is 114.2 lbf·in (12.9 N·m) at 400 V three-phase, rising to 267.3 lbf·in (30.2 N·m) at 115 V single-phase — the lower-voltage winding delivers higher torque at lower speed, typical for a motor designed to cover a wide input range without a separate transformer tap.
Absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder
The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type — no homing sequence needed on power-up; the position is known immediately after the drive and encoder handshake. This matters for applications where the machine must resume operation after a power cycle without a reference move, such as gantry pick-and-place or rotary indexing tables. The motor carries IP65 protection on the housing and shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5, with IP67 on the housing — suitable for washdown environments where coolant or fine dust is present. The straight connector is the electrical interface; the mating cable assembly must be specified separately and should match the IP rating at the connection point.
Stall torque, peak current, and thermal limits
Continuous stall torque is 295.6 lbf·in (33.4 N·m) across the 115–480 V three-phase range — this is the torque the motor can hold indefinitely without overheating under natural convection cooling. Peak stall torque reaches 1167.4 lbf·in (131.9 N·m) at 115–480 V three-phase, driven by a 3-second peak output current of 95.6 A. Stator resistance is 0.28 Ω and inductance is 2.035 mH — these values set the electrical time constant and influence the drive's current-loop tuning. The torque constant is 1.57 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back-EMF constant is 104 V/krpm at 20 °C. The copper hot-spot temperature limit is 130 °C, so the drive's I²t protection should be set to keep the winding temperature below this ceiling during sustained overloads.
Flange mounting and mechanical interface
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 140 mm (5.5 in) flange size. The centring collar diameter is 130 mm (5.1 in) with a 3.5 mm depth. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length, and 8 mm key width. Maximum radial force is 2660 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1840 N at 3000 rpm; maximum axial force is 300 N.
