140 mm flange, 4 kW continuous — the SH3 frame for high-torque axes
The SH31404P12F2100 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor with an integrated holding brake, sized on the 140 mm flange frame. It delivers 4040 W continuous power and a continuous stall torque of 33.4 Nm across the 115...480 V three-phase range, with a peak stall torque of 131.9 Nm for acceleration transients. The motor carries an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — no homing sequence needed on power-up, which matters for multi-axis gantries and rotary tables where the home position must survive a power cycle.
Torque and speed across the supply range
Nominal torque and speed depend on the supply voltage and wiring configuration. At 400 V three-phase the motor delivers 12.9 Nm at 3000 rpm; at 480 V three-phase it delivers 11.1 Nm at 3600 rpm. On single-phase 230 V the nominal torque rises to 26.3 Nm but the speed ceiling drops to 1500 rpm. The torque constant is 1.57 Nm/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back-EMF constant is 104 V/krpm at 20 °C. Stator resistance is 0.28 Ohm and inductance is 2.035 mH — these set the current-loop bandwidth ceiling and the voltage saturation point at high speed.
Mounting, shaft, and environmental sealing
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 140 mm pilot diameter and a 3.5 mm centring collar depth. Four 11 mm mounting holes on the flange face accept M10 bolts. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length, 8 mm key width. IP65 protection on both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 — the motor withstands washdown and airborne dust in food, beverage, and packaging lines. The electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector, which helps route the power and feedback cables in tight cabinet cutouts. Maximum radial force at the shaft nose is 2660 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1840 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 300 N. These limits define the permissible overhung load from a belt pulley or a coupling — exceed them and the bearing life drops fast.
The motor is part of the SH3 family (sizing reference SH31404P), which shares the same flange and shaft dimensions across the power range. No pin-compatible alternative exists within the SH3 family — the frame size and feedback type are the selection gates.
