The Schneider TM172OBM42R is a Modicon M172 programmable controller rated for 24 V AC/DC supply (±10% AC or 20–38 V DC), with 42 total I/O: 12 digital inputs (sink/source, 24 V AC/DC), 12 digital outputs (relay, 3 A), 12 analog inputs configurable by pair (0–10 V, 0/4–20 mA, Pt1000, NTC), and 6 analog outputs (4 voltage 0–10 V + 2 selectable voltage/current/PWM). This I/O mix targets HVAC and building automation panels where you need both discrete control of contactors or valves and analog loop monitoring of temperature or pressure sensors. Dual RS485 ports support Modbus or BACnet; one CAN port and a USB mini-B are also present. No onboard display. The built-in RTC drifts ≤30 s/month over the -20 to 65 °C range.
Complies with UL, CSA, EN, and IEC safety and EMC standards. CE marked under 2014/35/EU and 2014/30/EU. Pollution degree 2, overvoltage category II. Material rating UL94 V-0.
Panel-mount via DIN rail; dimensions 110 mm high × 144 mm wide × 60.5 mm deep. IP20 enclosure requires a cabinet; terminal blocks are fixed screw-type. Power consumption 14 W at 24 V AC/DC; account for heat dissipation in sealed enclosures. Sensor supply: 5 V DC at 50 mA and 24 V DC at 150 mA available from the controller – adequate for a handful of 2-wire transmitters or Hall-effect sensors. Discrete inputs draw 2.5 mA each, compatible with standard 3-wire proximity switches as well as dry contacts. Wiring the RS485 bus: twisted-pair cable, terminate at last device, ensure common reference. Dual ports allow separate Modbus and BACnet networks; CAN port uses screw terminal blocks for all field connections.
