Power supply and I/O complement for compact machine control
The TM218LDA40DRPHN is a Modicon M218 logic controller accepting a universal AC supply from 100 to 240 Vac, 50/60 Hz, with a ripple-inclusive limit of 85-264 Vac — so it runs on any mains voltage from North American 120 V to European 230 V without a transformer tap change. It carries 20 digital inputs plus 4 fast inputs for high-speed counting (HSC), and 12 relay outputs plus 4 fast outputs for PTO/PWM/FG motion profiles — a mixed complement that handles both discrete machine logic and basic coordinated motion on one CPU.
Expansion headroom and isolation for panel integration
The controller supports up to 7 expansion modules, giving a system maximum of 248 I/O points and up to 90 relay outputs — enough headroom to grow a packaging or material-handling cell without swapping the CPU. Isolation between the AC power supply and the internal logic, I/O, and protective ground (PE) is rated at 1780 Vac / 2500 Vdc — this keeps field transients off the backplane and simplifies panel bonding in mixed-voltage cabinets. Continuous output power draw is 34 W, which sets the thermal budget for the enclosure — no forced cooling needed in a standard ventilated panel at 40 °C ambient.
