Compact controller with 24 I/O and dual-network ports

The TM241CE24T is a Modicon M241 programmable logic controller with 24 discrete I/O — sink/source inputs and transistor outputs — built around 64 MB system RAM and 128 MB flash for program backup. Two serial ports (RS232/RS485) and a 10/100 Ethernet port handle fieldbus and HMI communication via Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, or OPC UA.

Isolation, surge, and compliance

Isolation is rated 500 V AC between supply and internal logic, between input and logic, and between output and logic; non-insulated between supply and ground and between outputs within the same group. Surge withstand is tested to 1 kV common mode on power lines and shielded cable per IEC 61000-4-5. The controller carries UL 508, CSA C22.2 No 142, IEC 61131-2:2007, marine classification (LR, ABS, DNV, GL), and ANSI/ISA 12-12-01 for hazardous locations. No exceptions.

Fast counting and pulse outputs

High-speed counter channels accept single-phase, A/B quadrature, or pulse/direction up to 200 kHz. Fast transistor outputs switch on in under 2 µs and handle PWM or PTO with accuracy ±0.1% in the 20–100 Hz band and ±1% up to 1 kHz. Short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection are included on the fast outputs.

Network and embedded services

The embedded Ethernet port supports Ethernet/IP originator and target, Modbus TCP server/client, OPC UA server, FTP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS, and a web server for WebVisu and XWeb system. Serial links run RS232 up to 115.2 kbit/s and RS485 up to 15 m at the same rate. USB and SD card slots allow local program transfer and logging.
