I/O and memory for mid-size control
66 discrete I/O points (24 outputs, 4 fast outputs) plus 4 analog inputs covering 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and ±10 V. Counting inputs run at 200 kHz on 8 channels – enough for encoder feedback or high-speed pulse counting without an add-on module. 128 MB flash and 64 MB internal RAM support retain and retain-persistent variables on a CR2477M Renata battery with a 1.5-year data retention spec. Real-time clock drifts under 6 s per month with user calibration; without calibration it stays under 30 s per month at 77 °F.
Supply and mounting constraints
Operates on 20.4–28.8 VDC (24 V nominal) and draws 0.31 A from the main supply plus 0.04 A for the embedded expert module power segment. Total power consumption is 18.11 W. At 100 kA peak current the main supply path sees 1.2 A for over 70 s during surge – confirm upstream protective device curve coordination. Mounts on symmetrical DIN rail. Pollution degree 2 (IEC 60664), shock resistance 15 gn for 11 ms, vibration resistance 1 gn from 8.4 to 150 Hz when rail-mounted. Full operating altitude to 2000 m; storage altitude to 3000 m. Humidity range 5–95% non-condensing.
Fieldbus and communication
CANopen interface supports selectable baud rates from 10 kbit/s (5000 m bus length) to 1 Mbit/s (4 m). Also carries an Ethernet port with network status LEDs and a USB host port. No Modbus RTU on-board but the Ethernet stack can handle Modbus TCP via the PLC firmware.
