Four configurable analog outputs in a compact slice
The Modicon TM3AQ4 adds four analog output channels to a TM3 base, each individually configurable for 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-10 V, or -10-10 V with 12-bit resolution (11 bits plus sign for bipolar voltage). Conversion time runs at 1 ms plus 1 ms per channel plus one controller cycle – budget the bus cycle for multi-channel updates. Absolute accuracy holds ±1% of full scale across temperature, tightening to ±0.2% at 25 °C. Output ripple is 20 mV, and the module is CE marked per IEC 61131-2.
Mounting and wiring for the panel
Slips onto standard TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rail (or panel with fixing kit). Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 23.6 mm wide, 90 mm tall – 2.8 × 0.9 × 3.5 inches – so it occupies a single wide slice in the TM3 backplane. Wiring is through an 11-point removable screw terminal block (2.5 mm² max, 5.08 mm pitch). Use twisted shielded pairs for runs up to 30 m; longer runs risk noise injection. Load impedance: 1 kΩ for voltage outputs, 300 Ω for current loops. Power draw from the backplane: 40 mA at 5 V (no load), 125 mA at 24 V (full load). Allow for that in the controller power budget.
