The TM3DQ16TG is a Modicon TM3 discrete output module with 16 source-type transistor outputs rated at 500 mA each at 24 V DC. Powered from the backplane bus, it draws 5 mA from 5 V DC and 10 mA from 24 V DC, so no external supply is needed—just a free slot in the rack. Turn-on and turn-off each take 450 µs maximum.
Mounting and connection
The module clips onto a TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rail, or onto a plate or panel with the fixing kit. Width is 1.08 in (27.4 mm). Field wiring lands on a 10-position removable spring terminal block, 3.81 mm pitch, accepting 26 AWG to 16 AWG solid cable. Each channel gets a green LED for output state—useful for panel-side troubleshooting without a meter.
Ratings that matter
Maximum leakage current is 0.1 mA at 24 V DC—watch it on high-impedance inputs. Voltage drop across the output saturates below 0.4 V, so the full 24 V lands on the load. Tungsten loads are capped at 3 W per channel—use snubbers if switching incandescent pilot lights. Isolation between channels and the backplane bus is 500 V AC—enough to keep a shorted output from taking out the CPU module. Ambient temperature range for horizontal mounting is -10 to 55 °C; vertical mounting derates to 35 °C.
No drop-in replacement exists within the TM3 series at this output count; if the design requires a different output type or voltage, the next variant is a different order code.
Compliance and certification
CE marked and designed to IEC 61131-2. Pollution degree 2, IP20 enclosure—suitable for a clean, dry control cabinet. Vibration resistance is 3.5 mm at 5–8.4 Hz and 3 g at 8.4–150 Hz on DIN rail; shock resistance is 15 g for 11 ms. Good for moderate-vibration environments like conveyor lines.
