TM3XTYS4 – Parallel interface for TeSys U motor starters
Schneider Modicon TM3 TM3XTYS4 is a parallel interface module that sits between a controller and up to eight TeSys U motor starters. It strips the I/O mapping down to 12 inputs and 8 transistor outputs, all switched at 24 V DC. The RJ45 connectors carry the start/stop and feedback signals for each starter, while a removable screw terminal block handles the 24 V DC supply. Response time through the module is under 10 ms on both turn-on and turn-off edges, so it keeps cycle times tight for packaging or conveyor cell sequencing. Each output channel delivers 300 mA continuously (800 mA for the first 100 ms), enough to energise a small relay or indicator per starter.
Installation and mounting considerations
The module clips onto a TH35-15 or TH35-7.5 DIN rail, or it can be panel-mounted with a fixing kit. At 90 mm tall, 30 mm wide, and 85 mm deep, it fits a compact cabinet footprint. The four RJ45 connectors face outward, so plan for cable bend radius and access to the screw terminal block on the other side. Wire the 24 V DC supply to the removable terminal block (3 x 2.5 mm²). The module draws 5 mA at 5 V DC on the backplane when on and up to 1200 mA from the external 24 V supply; automatic reset re-energises outputs after a fault clears.
