CANopen Interface Integration
The TM5NCO1 is a CANopen communication module from the Modicon TM5 range. It draws 300 mA from the TM5 bus, dissipating 1.5 W. Per the datasheet, the isolated serial link is a male SUB-D 9 connector supporting baud rates of 10, 20, 50, 125, 250, 500, 800, 1000 kbit/s and autodetection. This covers the standard CANopen bit-rate range; autodetection simplifies commissioning when the master baud is not hard-coded.
Physical and Environmental Fit
Dimensions are 1.5 in (37.5 mm) wide, 3.0 in (75 mm) deep, and 3.9 in (99 mm) tall. Pollution degree 2 (non-conductive pollution only). Operating temperature range: 14…131 °F (-10…55 °C) without derating in horizontal mounting; derating is allowed up to 140 °F (60 °C) horizontally, and vertical installation is permitted from 14…122 °F (-10…50 °C). Storage temperature spans -40…158 °F (-40…70 °C). Altitude rated to 2000 m without derating. The IP20 protection means it requires enclosure mounting in a controlled environment.
Diagnostics and Compliance
Four LED indicators on the front panel provide local signalling: green/red for power supply (PWR), green/red for CAN status (RUN), red for CAN error (ERROR), and yellow for controller communication status on the TM5 bus (TxD). These simplify fault isolation without a handheld tool. The module carries CE marking and is listed under CSA C22.2 No 213, IEC 61131-2, and UL 508 standards, covering industrial control equipment requirements.
