Two thermocouple inputs on a 12.5 mm slice

The TM5SAI2TH is a two-channel analog input module for the Modicon TM5 distributed I/O family, accepting J, N, K, and S thermocouple types with 16-bit resolution and 0.1 °C measurement granularity. Each channel is sampled at 16 bits, non-linearity rated at ±0.001 % FS for the thermocouple range. Input filtering is configurable by software from 1 ms to 66.7 ms to suit the electrical noise level on site.

Accuracy and noise rejection

Measurement error is specified per thermocouple type at 25 °C: ±0.11 % of full scale for types K and N, ±0.1 % for type J, and ±0.17 % for type S. Common mode rejection exceeds 70 dB, keeping the loop stable in the presence of ground potential differences. The module draws 2 mA from the 5 V backplane and 30 mA from the 24 V I/O bus, dissipating 0.73 W. Isolation between channels and bus is rated 500 Vrms AC.
