Module fit and constraints
The TM5SE1IC02505 is a Modicon TM5 counter module from Schneider Electric, rated for a single incremental encoder input at 250 kHz with 24 V DC sink logic. It accepts a 5 V differential (RS422) encoder and provides a 24 V encoder power supply. The backplane draws 2 mA from the 5 V bus and another 63 mA from the 24 V I/O supply — factor that into your TM5 power budget. Channel-to-bus isolation is 500 Vrms, enough to keep encoder noise off the main backplane. Input filtering is configurable up to 200 ms to debounce low-frequency signals; for counting at 250 kHz, keep filtering at minimum. The counting resolution can be set to 16 or 32 bits via software.
The module is IP20 rated; no special cutout or gland plate. Operating ambient is 0–55 °C horizontal (no derating) or 0–50 °C vertical. Storage range -25 to +70 °C. Pollution degree 2 environment is sufficient for most control cabinets. The 24 V encoder supply is driven from the module's I/O power terminals; maximum current draw from that supply is the encoder itself plus the module's 63 mA consumption. Power dissipation is 1.51 W — negligible for panel thermal calculations.

Carries CE marking and is listed to UL 508, CSA C22.2 No. 142, CSA C22.2 No. 213, and IEC 61131-2. EMC compliance includes IEC 61000-4-4 (fast transients), IEC 61000-4-5 (surge 0.5 kV diff/1 kV common), and IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD).
