What the VW3A58302 does
The VW3A58302 is a communication card that adds Modbus Plus protocol connectivity to an ATV58 variable speed drive. It fits the ATV58 option slot and presents a Female SUB-D 9 connector for the fieldbus cable.
Connector and protocol fit
The Female SUB-D 9 connector is the physical interface for the Modbus Plus network. This is a standard pinout for Modbus Plus drops — the cable terminates at the drive panel and the card handles the protocol translation. Modbus Plus is a token-passing, peer-to-peer fieldbus running at 1 Mbit/s. The card handles the physical layer and data-link layer, so the drive's control logic sees the network as a set of registers.
