The VW3A3E201 is a logic I/O card for Schneider Altivar drives, now classified as obsolete by the manufacturer. It provides four programmable discrete inputs (LI7–LI10) compatible with level 1 PLCs, sampling at 1.5–2.5 ms, with a 24 V DC input range (limits ≤30 V) and both negative and positive logic thresholds (state 0 ≥16 V negative, ≤5 V positive; state 1 ≥11 V). On the output side, the card carries five discrete outputs: three configurable relay logic contacts (R3A, R3B, R3C) and two assignable logic outputs (LO1, LO2). The relay contacts switch up to 5 A at 250 V AC on resistive load (cos φ=1) or 2 A at 250 V AC on inductive load (cos φ=0.4, L/R=7 ms); minimum switching is 3 mA at 24 V DC. The assignable logic outputs deliver 0.2 A at 24 V DC (12–30 V limits) and support both negative and positive logic. The card integrates a PTC probe input (TH1+, TH1-) with a trip resistance threshold of 3 kΩ, reset at 1.8 kΩ, and short-circuit detection below 0.05 Ω, designed for up to six PTC probes in series (series impedance ≤1.5 Ω). It also provides an internal 10.5 V DC supply (10–11 V range) for a reference potentiometer and a 24 V DC supply (21–27 V range) with overload and short-circuit protection rated at <0.2 A.
Schneider has marked the VW3A3E201 as obsolete.
Integration notes
Electrical connection uses a terminal block accepting 1.5 mm² / AWG 16 wire, with a tightening torque of 0.25 N·m. The relay outputs are rated for 100,000 electrical cycles. The card's internal 24 V supply powers the inputs and assignable outputs; the 10.5 V reference rail is dedicated to an external potentiometer for drive speed reference.
