The Schneider Electric VW3A3E304 is an Interbus communication card for Altivar drives, providing a fieldbus interface via dual 9-way SUB-D connectors — one male, one female — for daisy-chain wiring on the Interbus network.
Power supply note
The card draws power from the drive when the inverter is powered. If the drive is off, an external 24 V supply is needed to keep the bus interface alive — this matters during commissioning or when the drive is isolated but the network must stay up.
Status indicators
Five LEDs on the card face give at-a-glance status: BA for periodic data traffic, RC for bus input, Rd for bus output, TR for messaging, and U for power supply. A graphic display terminal also shows control word and reference word received — useful for fault isolation without a laptop.
