The VW3A3E409 is a universal encoder interface card for the Altivar drive range, handling SSI Gray or binary with configurable parity, SinCos Hiperface up to 10000 lines, and EnDat 2.1 up to 25 bits. It accepts SinCos Hiperface, EnDat 2.2, and SSI encoder types, with a fixed 500 kHz clock and short-circuit and overload protection built in.

The card connects via screw terminals accepting 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm² conductors, with a maximum cable run of 50 m between the drive and the encoder.
