Overview
The VW3A4558 is a three-phase line choke for the Schneider Altivar 71 and Altivar 61 drive ranges, rated 0.155 mH inductance and 184 A switching current, dissipating 220 W. It is designed to reduce current harmonics on the line side of the drive. It is compatible with specific drive models including ATV61HD90N4D, ATV61WD90N4, ATV61WD90N4C, ATV71HD75N4, and ATV71WD75N4, one choke per drive.
How it compares
The next step up in the same family is the VW3A4559, rated 0.12 mH and 222 A with 278 W dissipation. The VW3A4558 uses 9 mm bare wire connections; the VW3A4559 uses 11 mm. For a panel originally wired for the VW3A4559, the VW3A4558 cannot drop in without rewiring the larger-gauge cable.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Schneider discontinued the VW3A4558 on 2024-01-02. It is no longer in active production; remaining units are sourced through surplus and broker channels. An RFQ confirms available quantity and lead time for line-down or last-time-buy needs.
