The VW3A4573 is a three-phase line choke from the Schneider Altivar range, designed to reduce current harmonics on the input side of a variable speed drive. Rated for a 50/60 Hz supply, the choke limits voltage drop to 5 % at rated load and handles a saturation current of 1180 A — roughly twice the nominal, giving headroom for transient inrush without core saturation. The part is built to VDE 0160 level 1, IEC 60076 (with HD398), and EN 50178 standards, with a pollution degree 2 rating and clearance/creepage distances of 5.5 mm and 11.5 mm per IEC 60664.
The choke measures 320 mm wide by 380 mm high by 230 mm deep, with IP00 protection on both the choke body and terminals — meaning it is open-frame and intended for mounting inside a clean, dry enclosure where no accidental contact occurs. Electrical connection uses bare wires up to 13 mm diameter. Operating temperature range is 0 to 45 °C without derating; above that, up to 55 °C, derate current by 2 % per °C. At altitudes from 1000 to 3000 m, derate 1 % per 100 m. The choke withstands 15 gn shock for 11 ms (IEC 60068-2-27) and vibration of 1 gn at 13–200 Hz (IEC 60068-2-6). Environmental classification is 3B1, 3C2, 3S1 per IEC 721-3-3, covering moderate humidity (0–95 % RH) and industrial atmospheres.
