The VW3A46124 is a passive filter from the Altivar accessory range, designed to reduce current harmonics on the line side of a variable-speed drive. It sits between the supply and the drive input, rated 29 A input / 30 A output at 400 V ±10 %, 50 Hz ±2 %, three-phase. Efficiency runs at 98 %, with thermal losses of 298 W — the filter dissipates that heat into the enclosure, so panel ventilation needs to account for it.
Harmonic performance by drive model
The THDI figure depends on the drive it pairs with. On the ATV61H and ATV71H (both 15 kW/20 hp) the filter delivers 10 % THDI; on the ATV61W, ATV71W, ATV650, ATV630, ATV950, and ATV930 (same motor rating) it achieves 5 % THDI. That means on the wall-mount Altivar 630/930/950 family you get the lower harmonic content — useful if the site has a G5/4 engineering recommendation or IEC 61000-2-4 compliance to meet. Power factor varies with load: unity (cos φ = 1) at 150 % line current, 0.85 at 75 % load, and 0.99 at full load. The filter keeps the displacement factor near unity across the operating band, which helps avoid penalty charges on utility meters that bill for reactive power.
IP20 on the open unit, IP55 when enclosure-mounted. Operating temperature range is 5…45 °C without derating; above that up to 60 °C you derate 3 % per °C. Altitude derating kicks in above 1000 m — 5 % per additional 1000 m. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5…13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2…150 Hz. The filter is Class F insulated. Terminals accept 0.5…10 mm² on the main power connections and 2.5 mm² on the A/B control terminals. One filter per drive for all listed models — no paralleling needed.
