Harmonic filter for Altivar drives
The Schneider Electric VW3A46131 is a passive filter designed to reduce current harmonics on Altivar variable-speed drives. It delivers a THDI of 5 % for drives including the ATV630 (55 kW/75 hp), ATV930 (55 kW/75 hp), ATV950 (55 kW/75 hp), ATV61H (75–90 kW/100–125 hp), ATV71H (75–90 kW/100–125 hp), ATV71W (75 kW/100 hp), ATV61W (75–90 kW/100–125 hp), and ATV71Q (90 kW/125 hp). The 5 % THDI figure means the filter brings line current distortion below the limits set by IEC 61000-2-4, IEC 61000-2-2, G5/4, IEC 61000-3-4, IEC 61000-3-12, and IEC 61000-3-2 — the standards cited for this part. That is the compliance threshold a site engineer needs for grid connection approval in most European and UK installations. Cos phi varies with load: 1 at 150 % line current, 0.99 at 100 %, and 0.85 at 75 %. This tells you the filter does not significantly shift the power factor away from unity at full load — the displacement factor stays near 1.0 where it matters most for utility billing. The filter can sustain 1.5 x nominal current for 60 seconds, which covers the typical inrush and acceleration transient of a motor drive without nuisance tripping.
IP20 as a standalone unit; IP55 when mounted inside an enclosure. That means it is suited for cabinet installation in a clean panel environment — not for direct outdoor or washdown exposure without a proper enclosure. Operating temperature range is 5…45 °C without derating; above 45 °C up to 60 °C, derate current by 3 % per °C. Storage in original packaging is -25…55 °C; transport range extends to -25…65 °C.
