The Schneider Electric VW3A46150 is a passive harmonic filter for Altivar variable-speed drives, sized for 75 kW / 100 hp motors. It knocks line current THDI down to 10 % when paired with an ATV630, ATV650, ATV930, or ATV950 drive, or 16 % with an ATV61/71 H or W frame. That 10 % figure meets IEC 61000-3-12 and G5/4 engineering recommendation limits — relevant for sites where the utility or a site-wide power-quality spec caps injected harmonics.
Rated 118 A input, 122 A output at 480 V ±10 %, 60 Hz. The output side carries slightly more current because the filter's own losses (488 W thermal dissipation) are drawn from the input. That 488 W has to leave the enclosure — plan ventilation or a larger cabinet if the panel is tight. Power factor stays above 0.99 at full load, drops to 0.85 at 75 % load. That means the filter corrects displacement PF across the operating range, not just at nameplate. Efficiency is 98 %, so the bulk of the 488 W loss is real power, not reactive. Operating temperature: 5 to 45 °C without derating. Above that, derate 3 % per °C up to 60 °C. At 50 °C ambient, you lose 15 % of the current capability. If the drive is in a hot machine cabinet, factor that into the filter selection — don't size to the drive's nominal current alone. Altitude derating kicks in above 1000 m: 5 % per additional 1000 m. At 3000 m, the filter is good for roughly 90 % of its sea-level rating.
IP20 as a standalone unit; IP55 when enclosure-mounted. The power terminals accept 10 to 70 mm² cable, with auxiliary control terminals on 2.5 mm² connections. One filter per drive — no sharing across multiple inverters. Vibration rated to IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak from 5 to 13.2 Hz, then 0.7 gn up to 150 Hz. Fine for floor-mount or back-panel installation on a standard machine base.
