The VW3A46162 is a passive filter from the Altivar accessory range, designed to reduce current harmonics on variable-speed drives. It is rated for 25 A input and 26 A output at 480 V ±10 %, 60 Hz ±2 %, three-phase. Efficiency sits at 98 %, with thermal losses of 298 W that must be ventilated in the enclosure.
Mounting is one filter per drive, sized for 15 kW / 20 hp motors across the ATV61H, ATV71H, ATV61W, ATV71W, ATV650, ATV630, ATV950, and ATV930 wall-mount series. The IP20 enclosure suits panel mounting; IP55 is achievable with enclosure mounting. Terminals accept 0.5–10 mm² on the main power connections and 2.5 mm² on the A/B terminals. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5–13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2–150 Hz.
THDI performance depends on the drive model: 10 % for ATV61H and ATV71H (15 kW/20 hp), 10 % for ATV71W (15 kW/20 hp), and 5 % for ATV61W, ATV650, ATV630, ATV950, and ATV930 (all 15 kW/20 hp). The filter complies with IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-2-2, G5/4 engineering recommendation, IEC 61000-2-4, and IEC 61000-3-4. Power factor varies with load: cos φ of 1 at 150 % line current, 0.85 at 75 %, and 0.99 at 100 %.
Ambient operating temperature is 5–45 °C without derating; above 45 °C up to 60 °C, derate current by 3 % per °C. Altitude derating applies above 1000 m: 5 % per 1000 m up to 4000 m. Relative humidity 5–85 % without condensation.
Class F electrical insulation. Overload capability: 1.5 × nominal current for 60 seconds — useful for motor starting transients. The filter is a passive type, meaning no active switching components; reliability depends on the inductor and capacitor bank, both rated for continuous duty at the 26 A output.
