The VW3A46166 is a passive harmonic filter from the Altivar accessory range, sized for 37 kW / 50 hp variable-speed drives. It's the line-side filter that knocks down current harmonics before they reflect back onto the plant network — THDI lands at 5 % or 10 % depending on which drive it's paired with, which is the difference between meeting G5/4 or not in some installations. Rated 62 A continuous on both input and output, 480 V ±10 %, 60 Hz. One filter per drive, no sharing.
THDI is the headline number here. With the ATV61H or ATV71H at 37 kW, the filter holds THDI to 10 %. Pair it with an ATV630, ATV650, ATV930, or ATV950 in the same power class and it drops to 5 %. That 5 % figure is tight enough to comply with IEC 61000-3-12 and the G5/4 engineering recommendation — relevant if the plant has a weak supply or a utility-imposed harmonic limit. The filter's own efficiency is 98 %, so the 574 W thermal loss needs to be in the panel cooling budget. At 45 °C ambient it runs without derating; above that, derate 3 % per °C up to 60 °C. Above 1000 m altitude, derate 5 % per additional 1000 m. Power factor correction is load-dependent. At 150 % of line current the filter presents cos φ of 1.0 (unity). At 100 % line current it's 0.99, and at 75 % it drops to 0.85. That means the filter does its best work when the drive is pulling near or above its rated current — if the drive is oversized and runs lightly loaded most of the time, the power factor benefit is less pronounced. Rated current is 60 A on the input side, 62 A on the output. The filter can handle 1.5× nominal current for 60 seconds — useful for short-duration overloads during acceleration or load transients. The 480 V ±10 % supply tolerance covers nominal 460–480 V北美 systems, but note the 60 Hz frequency is fixed at 60 Hz ±2 %; this filter won't run on a 50 Hz line.
IP20 base, IP55 when enclosure-mounted — so it's meant to live inside a panel unless you add the enclosure kit. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5–13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2–150 Hz. Electrical connection uses two terminal sizes: the signal/control terminals accept up to 2.5 mm², the power terminals (X1-1 through X2-3) accept 2.5–50 mm². Class F insulation. Operating humidity 5–85 % non-condensing.
