The VW3A46167 is a Schneider Electric passive filter designed to reduce current harmonics on Altivar ATV61 and ATV71 variable speed drives, specifically for 45 kW / 60 hp motor ratings. It handles a rated input current of 73 A and output current of 76 A at 480 V +/- 10 %, 60 Hz.
Harmonic performance and compliance
The filter achieves a total harmonic current distortion (THDI) of 10 % for ATV61H, ATV71H, and ATV71W drives, and 5 % for ATV61W drives — meaning it cleans the line current enough to meet IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-3-4, IEC 61000-3-12, and the UK G5/4 engineering recommendation. That covers most European and UK power-quality requirements without an active filter. Power factor correction is load-dependent: cos phi reaches 1 at 150 % of line current, 0.99 at 100 %, and 0.85 at 75 % — so the filter maintains near-unity power factor across the normal operating range.
One filter per drive — no sharing across multiple drives. The unit is IP20 as standard, IP55 when enclosure-mounted, so it can sit inside a panel or be mounted externally in a protected location. Operating temperature range is 5...45 °C without derating, extending to 60 °C with a 3 % per °C derating on current. Above 1000 m altitude, derate current by 5 % per additional 1000 m. Terminal blocks accept up to 50 mm² cable on the main power connections (X1-1...X2-3) and 2.5 mm² on the control terminals (A, B). Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: 2 mm peak-to-peak at 5...13.2 Hz, 0.7 gn at 13.2...150 Hz.
