The VW3A4631 is a passive filter from Schneider Electric's Altivar accessory range, designed to reduce current harmonics on the line side of variable speed drives. It's rated 216 A continuous at 400 V +/- 10 %, three-phase, 50 Hz. The filter achieves a THDI of 5 % when paired with specific ATV61 and ATV71 drives — ATV61HC13N4 (132 kW/200 hp), ATV61HC25N4 (250 kW/400 hp), ATV71HC13N4 (132 kW/200 hp), and ATV71HC25N4 (250 kW/400 hp). Efficiency is 98 %, with a power factor that varies by load: cos phi of 1 at 150 % of line current, 0.99 at 100 % of line current, and 0.85 at 75 % of line current. Maximum current capability is 1.5 times the nominal current rating.
If a form-fit-function replacement is needed, the application parameters (216 A, 400 V, 50 Hz, THDI target, drive model) must be matched against current-generation Altivar harmonic filter offerings — the VW3A4631 was sized for the ATV61 and ATV71 series, which are themselves superseded.
Installation and environmental constraints
Operating temperature range is 5...40 °C without derating; above 40 °C up to 55 °C, derate current by 3 % per °C. Above 1000 m altitude, derate 5 % per additional 1000 m. Relative humidity must stay between 5...85 % without condensation. Storage temperature range is -25...55 °C. Electrical connection uses bare wires with a maximum diameter of 16.5 mm. Insulation class is F. Quantity per drive varies: one filter for ATV61HC13N4 or ATV71HC13N4, two filters for ATV61HC25N4 or ATV71HC25N4.
