The Schneider Electric VW3A4710 is an EMC radio interference input filter for variable speed drives on three-phase supplies. It meets IEC 61800-3 limits for conducted emissions. Rated at 305 A continuous, it handles the input side of drives on 200-240 V or 380-480 V three-phase networks.
The 10% tolerance is a production spread, not a derating factor. Motor cable length limits are spelled out per voltage and EMC category. At 380-480 V, you get 150 m of shielded cable for C2 compliance (industrial environment, second environment) and 300 m for C3 (first environment, residential). At 200-240 V, the C1 limit drops to 50 m. If your run exceeds these, you'll need an output filter or a shorter cable — the filter alone can't clean up what the cable radiates. Earth leakage current is 27.8 mA at 400 V 50 Hz on TN and TT systems.
The filter measures 520 mm high by 260 mm wide by 117 mm deep (-). That's a substantial box — it mounts on a backplate or inside a cabinet, not on DIN rail. The IP00 rating means it's not sealed; it needs to live inside an enclosure that provides the actual environmental protection. Copper bar M12 connections handle the high current — expect to bolt your incoming and outgoing cables directly to the bars. Operating temperature range is -10 to 50 °C without derating, and up to 60 °C with a 1.5% per °C derating on current. If your cabinet sits in a hot mezzanine or a high-altitude plant, factor those in before sizing. Mechanical robustness is rated class 3M4 per IEC 60721-3-3 for both shock and vibration. That's a standard industrial environment — think conveyor lines, pump stations, compressor rooms. Not rated for continuous heavy vibration like a crusher or a press.
