Line filter choke for Active Front End — now obsolete
The VW3A7266 is a line filter choke (LFC) designed for Schneider's Active Front End (AFE) system, specifically mating with the VW3A7251 and VW3A7252 active infeed converters. It's rated for 255 A line current at 50 °C on a 380-480 V three-phase network, dissipating 1275 W of thermal losses through natural convection cooling — no fan required. The part is now classified as obsolete per the manufacturer's lifecycle status.
The 255 A at 50 °C is the continuous current rating before derating — not a surge or peak figure. Above 50 °C ambient, the operating range extends to 60 °C with current derating applied. At altitude above 1000 m, derate 1 % per 100 m up to 3000 m. The 1275 W heat load is significant for panel thermal design: natural convection means you need free air movement around the 835 mm wide × 295 mm high × 195 mm deep chassis. IP00 means no enclosure protection — it's a built-in unit for a cabinet, not a standalone floor mount.
Mechanical and environmental integration
Electrical connection uses M10 bars: two runs of 2 × 150 mm² per phase plus a 95 mm² PE bar, torqued to 24 N·m. The built-in assembly style means it's designed to be bolted into a cabinet backplate — no DIN-rail mounting. Vibration resistance is 1.5 mm at 3-10 Hz and 0.6 gn at 10-200 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6; shock resistance is 7 gn for 11 ms per EN/IEC 60068-2-27. Storage temperature range is -25 to 70 °C; operating range is -10 to 45 °C (or 60 °C with derating). Insulation is Class H, suitable for the high thermal stress of a 1275 W choke running at line current.
