The VW3A83CDG100 is a 10 m GG45 Digi-Link cable that connects the power module to the control unit in a single-drive Altivar Process Modular architecture. This is the dedicated link cable for that drive family — not a generic Ethernet patch cord. The GG45 connector is keyed for the drive's backplane port; a standard RJ45 will not seat correctly.
What the GG45 designation means for fit
GG45 is a hybrid connector that accepts both standard RJ45 plugs and the proprietary GG45 keyed plug. On the Altivar Process Modular, the drive-side receptacle is GG45-only — a standard RJ45 patch cable will not latch. The cable is a single-piece assembly (one cable, one connector each end) with no field-terminable option. If you are replacing a damaged cable or extending a drive installation, confirm the drive generation: the Altivar Process Modular uses this cable; the earlier Altivar 61/71 series uses a different Digi-Link cable (VW3A8304Dxx).
Deployment context in the panel
The 10 m length covers most panel-to-motor sections where the control unit is mounted on the enclosure door and the power module is on the backplate. Route the cable away from power conductors and VFD output cables to avoid coupled noise on the Digi-Link communication pair. The cable is not rated for continuous flex — install with a service loop if the door is hinged.
