What the sinus filter does on a drive line
The VW3AE0650: A sinus filter sits between the drive output and the motor cable. It smooths the PWM waveform from the variable-frequency drive back toward a sinusoidal shape, which reduces motor winding stress, bearing currents, and radiated EMI. On an Altivar 61 Plus feeding a motor in a floor-standing enclosure, this filter is the component that keeps the cable run within acceptable dv/dt limits for the motor insulation system.
