The Schneider Electric VW3AP3204 is a 3-relay output expansion module for Altivar variable-speed drives. It adds three normally-open relay outputs (R4, R5, R6) with a 1 ms sampling time, letting the drive signal external contactors, brakes, or status lamps without pulling extra I/O from the controller. This module cannot be ordered alone — it mounts inside a standard Altivar enclosure as a factory-installed or field-fit option. Plan for the enclosure when sourcing.
Each relay switches up to 5 A at 250 V AC on resistive loads (cos φ = 1) and 2 A on inductive loads (cos φ = 0.4, L/R = 5 ms). On DC, the same 5 A / 2 A split applies at 30 V. The minimum switching current is 5 mA at 24 V DC — useful for low-power PLC inputs or pilot lights. Rated for 100,000 electrical cycles. That covers most conveyor or fan cycling in a production line; for high-frequency switching (e.g., rapid jogging), consider a solid-state output module instead. Connection is via screw terminals accepting 1.5 mm² / AWG 16 wire, torqued to 0.5 N·m. Standard panel practice — no special tooling needed.
