The VW3AP3423 is a resolver encoder interface module for the Altivar drive range. It accepts Sin+/Sin- and Cos+/Cos- differential signals plus a temperature channel (Temp+/Temp-), and outputs a reference pair (Ref+/Ref-). The 1 female SUB-D 9 connector mates to a resolver feedback cable; maximum cable distance between the drive and the resolver is 100 m. Supply draw is 0.05 A from the drive's encoder power rail.
The 12 kHz maximum operating frequency sets the resolver excitation frequency — match this to the resolver's specified carrier frequency. The four selectable ratios (3/10, 1/2, 3/4, 1) define the electrical gear ratio between the resolver shaft and the drive's speed feedback; pick the ratio that aligns with your motor pole count and resolver line count. Short-circuit and overload protection are built in, so no external fuse or current-limiting resistor is needed on the encoder supply.
