The VW3AP3609 is a DeviceNet communication module for the Altivar drive range — it slots into the drive's option bay and puts the drive on the DeviceNet network as a slave node. Node address is set from 1 to 63 using the graphic terminal or SoMove software, so you can assign any valid DeviceNet node ID without dip switches. Baud rate is configurable at 125 kbps, 250 kbps, or 500 kbps — match it to the network's existing rate. Maximum cable segment length depends on speed: 500 m at 125 kbps, 100 m at 500 kbps. That's standard DeviceNet topology; plan your trunk length accordingly. The module communicates using the CiA 402 CIP AC Drive profile, which means it speaks the standard drive profile for DeviceNet — polled, change-of-state, and cyclic I/O on inputs; polled on outputs. Auto device replacement and a configurable communication monitoring timeout are built in.
Two LEDs on the front — Module Status and Network Status — give you a quick visual on bus health and node state. No display beyond that; configuration is done through the drive's graphic terminal or SoMove. Electrical connection is a single removable 5-way screw connector. That's the DeviceNet drop cable — power and signal in one plug. Standard screw terminals, so you can terminate with a ferrule or bare wire. The module cannot be ordered alone — it ships only as part of a standard enclosure combination.
