Braking resistor for drive deceleration
The VW3SKR028W01000B is a 28 Ohm braking resistor rated for 1000 W continuous power dissipation, used to absorb regenerative energy from a motor drive during deceleration or overhauling loads. The 28 Ohm value determines the peak braking torque the resistor can handle — lower resistance draws more current from the DC bus, producing stronger braking force, but must be matched to the drive's internal chopper rating.
Integration into a drive system
Mounts inside the panel on a flat surface or DIN-rail bracket (bracket not included). Wire the resistor terminals to the drive's braking chopper output — typically a dedicated DC bus terminal block on Altivar drives. The 1000 W continuous rating covers most 3–5 kW motor applications with moderate deceleration cycles; for high-inertia loads or frequent braking, a higher-wattage resistor or external thermal protection may be needed.
