The Square D / Telemecanique XCKJ50541 is a heavy-duty limit switch from the Osiswitch XCKJ series, built for position sensing on industrial machinery, conveyors, and automated lines. It is a non-plug-in, spring-return design with a rotary head and adjustable Delrin roller lever actuator. Rated 240 VAC 10 A and 250 VDC 0.27 A, the SPDT slow make/break contacts handle motor control, valve position, and interlock circuits. The DC rating is the limiting factor for inductive loads — at 0.27 A, it is suited for signaling and small solenoid valves, not high-current DC switching. The enclosure carries NEMA 1/2/4/12 and IP66 ratings, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water. That puts it on washdown-capable machinery, outdoor conveyor transfer points, and food-grade lines where a standard limit switch would fail from moisture ingress.
Regulatory and compliance posture
The XCKJ50541 holds UL and CSA approvals, so it passes inspection in North American panels without a substitution request. It is designed per EN/IEC 60204-1 (safety of machinery) and EN/IEC 60947-5-1 (control circuit devices), which are the governing standards for industrial limit switches in Europe and most export markets.
Operating temperature spans -13 to 158 °F (-25 to 70 °C), which covers unheated warehouse environments and outdoor installations in temperate climates. The ZAMAK zinc alloy body resists corrosion better than painted steel in humid or mildly caustic washdown areas. Connection is via a PG13.5 cable gland with screw clamp terminals inside. That means the installer pulls the cable through the gland and terminates directly — no separate connector or plug-in base. The PG13.5 gland accepts cable diameters roughly 6–12 mm, typical for 3- or 4-conductor control cable.
