The Telemecanique XCKJ5910 is a safety limit switch — a position-sensing device wired into a machine's safety circuit to signal when a guard, door, or moving part has reached a defined position. It carries the alternate MPN 067913 on the nameplate, so verify that number against your BOM if you're replacing an existing unit. The contact block gives one normally open and one normally closed set (NO/NC), which is the standard wiring pattern for safety circuits: the NC channel carries the safety chain, and the NO channel signals the PLC or indicator light. No locking of the actuator means the switch resets as soon as the cam or ramp moves away — momentary operation, not a maintained latch.
The switch is rated for an actuation speed between 0.01 and 0.5 m/s. That range covers slow-moving guards (a hinged door opening over several seconds) up to moderate-speed cams on a conveyor or rotary indexer. If your cam or flag moves faster than 0.5 m/s at the point of contact, the switch may not have enough dwell time to transfer the contacts reliably — overspeed can cause the NC safety channel to bounce or fail to open. For faster motion, look at a roller-lever or spring-return variant with a higher speed rating.
