The Square D XCKL110 is a compact limit switch in the Telemecanique XCK-L family, built for general-duty position sensing on industrial machinery. It carries a SPDT contact block (1NO-1NC) rated for 240 VAC at 3 A and 250 VDC at 0.27 A — enough for pilot-duty control circuits on contactors, relays, and PLC inputs, but not for direct motor switching. The spring-return snap-action mechanism gives positive opening of the NC contact per EN/IEC 60947-5-1, meaning the NC circuit breaks even if the contacts weld, which is the safety-relevant feature for interlock applications. The metal end plunger actuator is a straight-line, push-to-operate head — no lever, no roller. That makes it a direct choice for cam-actuated positions where the cam face pushes a plunger, not for side-approach or rotary cams. Operating force is 45 N for positive opening and 15 N for tripping, so the cam profile needs to deliver at least that force reliably.
Enclosure rating is NEMA 1/2/3/4/12 and IP66, so the switch handles washdown, rain, dust, and oil spray — fine for food processing lines, conveyor tunnels, and outdoor conveyor galleries. The zamak metal body takes the mechanical abuse of repeated cam strikes better than a plastic-housed limit switch. Connection is via screw clamp terminals, which are standard for panel wiring and accept solid or stranded conductors without special ferrules. The compact body (2.05 in W × 1.18 in D × 2.83 in H) saves DIN-rail space compared to full-size heavy-duty limit switches. Actuation speed is rated up to 0.5 m/s — fast enough for most cam profiles but not for high-speed indexing where the cam passes in under 20 ms.
