The Square D XCMD2124C12 is a heavy-duty miniature modular limit switch from the Osiswitch XCMD family, built for position sensing in wet, washdown, or corrosive environments. The 1NO-1NC snap-action contact block is rated 240 VAC 1.5 A and 250 VDC 0.1 A — that DC rating is the limiting factor for inductive loads like small solenoids; the AC rating covers most pilot-duty control circuits. The M12 5-pin male connector simplifies field replacement: unplug the old head, plug in the new one, no rewiring at the terminal block. Enclosure rating is NEMA 1/2/4/4X/6/12/13 and IP66, IP67, IP68 — that IP68 rating means it survives continuous submersion beyond 1 meter, which is unusual for a miniature limit switch and tells you it was designed for food-and-beverage or marine deck applications where hose-down and temporary flooding are routine.
Mounting is via the miniature modular footprint common to the XCMD family — same hole pattern as the plastic-body variants, so a panel drilled for a plastic XCMD accepts this zinc-alloy version without rework. The M12 connector exits the bottom; allow clearance for the mating cordset and a 90° bend radius.
Approvals include UL and CSA, and the part is designed to EN/IEC 60204-1 and EN/IEC 60947-5-1 — the machinery safety and control-device standards. That covers most北美 and European panel builds without a separate certification step.
