The XCMD21F2M12: The switch is rated 240 VAC 3 A and 250 VDC 0.27 A. The AC figure covers most 120 V or 240 V control transformer circuits feeding a PLC input or relay coil; the DC rating at 0.27 A is the one to watch when switching DC solenoids or brake coils — exceeding that current at 250 VDC will weld the silver contacts. The 1NO-1NC slow make/break contact block is wired so the NC leg opens before the NO leg closes on actuation. That NC path is the positive-break safety channel per EN/IEC 60947-5-1 — it physically forces the contacts apart even if they weld, so the stop circuit stays open.
Actuator and travel — what the numbers tell the cam designer
The steel roller plunger has 3.2 mm pretravel before the contacts switch, then 5.3 mm total travel. The pretravel is the free movement before the snap point — the cam ramp must cover that distance before the switch changes state. The remaining 2.1 mm is overtravel after switching, which protects the switch body if the cam overdrives. Operating force is 28 N — about 6.3 lbf. That's a medium-force switch: it won't false-trip on machine vibration, but the cam lobe needs enough rise to overcome the spring preload. A low-force cam profile may stall here.
Enclosure and cable entry — washdown readiness
IP66 and IP67 rated metal body. IP66 means dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets; IP67 means it survives immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes. The cable gland entry is ISO M20 x 1.5 mm — the gland seals around the cable jacket, not the individual conductors, so the cable OD must match the gland range. The metal body sinks heat better than plastic, but the internal contacts and the cable gland seal are the weak points at the extremes — the gland elastomer stiffens below -25 °C.
Lifecycle and sourcing — still a current line item
Compliance documentation covers EN/IEC 60204-1 (machinery electrical safety) and EN/IEC 60947-5-1 (control circuit devices). The Proposition 65 warning for DINP and DIDP is a California labeling requirement, not a material restriction for industrial use.
