What you're getting
The XS108BLPAL5: This is a Telemecanique XS1 inductive proximity sensor in an M8 threaded shielded barrel. Output is PNP normally-open, rated for 200 mA continuous load on 12-24 VDC. Sensing range is 2 mm to a ferrous target; shielded face lets you flush-mount it in metal without false triggers. Body is brass with nickel plating – holds up in coolant mist and washdown zones. IP67 and NEMA 4X sealed, plus 5-meter PVC cable with bare wires so you don't need a separate connector. Indicator light built into the barrel for quick alignment on the line.
What it means on the line
The 2 mm shielded sensing distance is tight – you're mounting this close to the target, usually within a few mm of a cam or actuator. Shielded means it won't see metal through the barrel sides, so you can embed it in a tapped block or bracket. PNP output is the European standard; 200 mA drives a PLC input directly or pulls in a small relay. 12-24 VDC covers most industrial control voltages – just watch polarity on the three wires. 5 m cable is generous; you can usually skip an intermediate junction box if the routing is clean. Bare wire ends mean a terminal block connection – no M12 pinout to troubleshoot later.
Sourcing and lifecycle
Compliance is covered: CE, CSA, RoHS, and UL Listed – no extra paperwork needed for most panels.
