Where this 4 mm nano-format slot fits
The Telemecanique XS1L04PA310S is an OsiSense XS tubular inductive proximity sensor in a 4 mm nickel-plated brass barrel with unthreaded shielded construction. It is the nano-format end of the XS line — sized for tight tooling nests, gripper fingers, and small assembly heads where an M8 or M12 barrel simply will not fit. Sensing distance is 1 mm at the front face on a PPS face; the sensor runs from 5 to 24 VDC and switches up to 100 mA on a PNP normally-open output via a 3-pin M8 nano connector. At 5000 Hz switching frequency, it tracks high-speed small parts — part-present on a feeder bowl, end-of-stroke on a pneumatic cylinder, index confirmation on a rotary table — without becoming the cycle-time bottleneck.
Ratings that actually decide the fit
Sealed to NEMA 3/4X/6P/12/13 and IP67 with a nickel-plated brass body, it tolerates coolant splash and washdown. Operating temperature spans -13 to 158 DEG F, covering cold-room and warm-cabinet service. Listed load current of 100 mA is the per-output ceiling — wire it to a PLC input card or to a low-current relay coil and not to a solenoid or motor contactor directly. The 4 mm barrel diameter is what makes the 1 mm range usable in confined tooling.
Where this part does not interchange
The XS1N18PC410D peer is a 4-wire 12-24 VDC M18 device on a 4-pin M12 micro connector, not a 3-pin nano — different barrel, different pin count, different IO mapping. It is a catalog sibling, not a second source for this slot.
