As a tubular inductive proximity sensor in the XS1 line, it is ranged against a ferrous target on a moving part and wired back to a PLC fast-input; keep the rated sensing face clear of surrounding metal to preserve the nominal range. On a comms or controller card, plan for one input point per sensor; on the wiring side, follow the Telemecanique XS1 wiring diagram for the specific PNP normally-open variant so the brown / blue / black assignment lands on the right terminals before energising the input card.
