The XS208BLPAL2 is a current-production inductive proximity sensor from the Telemecanique XS2 series — an M8 threaded cylindrical body in nickel-plated brass, unshielded, with a 3 mm sensing distance and PNP normally-open output. It runs on 12-24V DC and switches up to 200 mA, prewired with a 2 m cable. Rated IP67 and NEMA 4X, it handles washdown environments and the typical -13 to 158 °F industrial range.
The 3 mm sensing distance is the maximum rated range for an unshielded M8 — expect reliable detection of ferrous targets at about 2.1 mm with standard derating for non-ferrous metals. The PNP NO output is common for PLC inputs; the 200 mA load current covers most small relays and indicator lamps. The 12-24V DC supply is typical for 24V control systems, but the part is not rated for AC supply. IP67 and NEMA 4X mean it's suitable for wet or corrosive environments, though the brass body and nickel plating add corrosion resistance beyond standard stainless.
